Prof Nkechi M. Christopher, the National President (from October 2024) joined LiPAN in 2001, and became the Southwest Coordinator in 2006. She organised the first Midterm conference of the Association in 2007 most successfully. She has attended many local, Pan-African and ILA (International Literacy Association, USA) conferences.

She is a lecturer in the Department of Communication and Language Arts, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. In addition to Book Publishing and Communication courses, she handles many language arts courses. She became a full professor in October 2014, a member of Nigeria Academy of Letters (MNAL) and a fellow of Literacy Promotion Association of Nigeria (FLiPAN). As a literacy promotion enthusiast, she has consulted for agencies on language teaching and led teacher training on literacy/reading.

Her main desire as the LiPAN president is to push the Association beyond conferencing to doing literacy in society.
