Professor Chukwuemeka Eze Onukaogu is an Emeritus Professor of English Language of the Department of English,Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. His area of special research interest is Applied English Linguistics.

He was a past president of the Reading Association of Nigeria(RAN), a Past Chair of the International Development Committee (Africa)of the International Reading Association(IRA) now International Literacy Association(ILA). He is the immediate past Chair of the Board of Trustees of RAN now Literacy Practitioners Association of Nigeria (LiPoN). Hesuperintendedthe planning and implementation of the Pan African Literacy for All Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, 2001;Kampala Uganda, 2003;kulwensi,Swaziland, 2005 and Accra, Ghana 2007.He was the foundation Chair of the Center of Excellence for Reading, Writing and Elocution of the Joseph Ayo BabalolaUniversity,  IkejiArakeji, Osun State, Nigeria. He is the Chair of Board of Trustees of the Centre of Excellence for Literacy Education.

He is a recipient of the Elva Knight research grant and Reading Research Fellowship of the ILA.Professor Onukaogu has published extensively -nationally and internationally on Literacy and Literacy Education.

He is a member of the Whole Language Umbrella and National Council of Teachers of English.
